My Frugal Finds at Michael's!!!!

I have been searching for a large AFFORDABLE cutting mat for awhile now. Came close in purchasing a quilting mat, but I felt it was too thin. So yesterday my husband and I were out in Hemet visiting friends and we made a stop at Michael's. I love that Michael's store! It's a lot bigger than my Michael's. I found two Martha Stewart's Playground paper pad for $2.99 each. The cashier didn't want to scan my coupon for an additional 20% off, after giving me a lecture on how coupons are not valid on clearance items I asked her in the nicest way to scan it. Well, she did and I saved an additional $.60 on each pad.

AND I FOUND A CUTTING MAT! The cutting mat was $7.99!!!! Yes that's right, it was $44.99 measures 23" x 17" What a bargain, wouldn't you agree?! I found it on the way out; on the floor with the clearance paint brushes, ah to think I almost missed it. I also got the mini misters and handed her the 40% coupon. {Planning to use those for my homemade shimmer mist.}

So this afternoon I was checking my receipt and realized the 40% coupon discounted $3.20, but the misters were only $4.99. hmmm? I looked carefully and lo and behold I actually saved $3.20 on the mat!!! I only paid $4.79 for it!! So much for the cashier's coupon lecture. And because I am a frugalista, I plan to return the misters, at my Michael's, and buy them back using a coupon.

Now the big challenge: Clean my desk. {sigh} I've been cleaning my room for about 2 weeks now. So I ask myself, why did I need a bigger mat when I only work off a 6"x 6" space on my desk?

Here's another V-Day Card

Last minute cards, these need to go in the mail first thing tomorrow morning for local delivery, they will get to their destination by Saturday. I started early but I got side tracked while trying to clean my scrap room {heavy sigh}

Just for the record I dislike skulls. This card is for my brother and his wife they're into that. I bought the chipboard for a buck at the Expo and I really need to get rid of it, I mean create with it, they creep me out.

Celebrate It! ribbon from Michael's, not bad I paid a buck for a roll of 4 yards.
Ink is from G Studio and another .10 cent rubber stamp from them.
Paper is Recollections and DCWV Natural matstack.
Creative Memories heart punch.
Chipboard stickers by Creative Imaginations.
Flower is Petaloo
And of course I finished it off with Dazzling Diamonds Shimmer Mist.

Another Tattered Angels Card

This another Make N Take from the Scrapbook Expo this January. The picture doesn't do it justice! It's soo PURDY with all the shimmer!

Another V-Day Card

This was a free Make n Take I made at CHA. Shimmer Mist, screens and frame are Tattered Angels. I got good use out of my .10 stamp from G Studio this year..Lol.

Valentine Card

Here I go again with another owl card! I so lifted the layout from Creative Chaos blog I HOPE YOU DON’T MIND JEANNE! You can also find the freebie on Lost In Paper Scraps. blog.
Paper is from Creative memories and DCWV new stack Natural Matstack; Maya Road flower; Scallop from 09 Kutups; can’t remember where I picked up the eyelet svg cut.

Owl always love you

The owl is a free digi stamp over at
Dustin Pike‘s blog. I colored him in with color pencils purchased at Dollar Tree. I also got the title from a card posted on his blog.
All paper is from Creative memories. I chalked the card with EK Success chalk; I embossed using the D'vine Swirls folder from Cuttlebug with my Sizzix Texture Boutique then lightly sanded the surface. I used stardust Gelly Roll pen to fill in the heart. I don’t remember where I picked up the tree branch, sorry.

Be Mine Card

I always start early creating cards and I always fall behind. I still have a couple more cards to do, here's one I created last night.

When I first searched for free svg's I wasn't good about organizing them so more than half of the files I have collected, I don't remember where I got them. If you recognize the cut file, please let me know so I can give proper credit.

I created the card with a border and the basic square in SCAL1. I used the weld feauture and kept a part of the original border. I used my $5 Sizzix Texture Boutique (hehehe) and the Paisley Cuttlebug folder to emboss the card. The eyelet border is also a cut I collected early on and dont' remember where I got it. The heart border is from a Kid Stamp Kit by Hampton Art, I purchased for $.23 clearanced at Michaels! It had 6 cards with envelopes, 6 inch borders, stickers and 4 rubber wood stamps. Not bad.

The doilly heart and the "Be Mine" title are my files and I used Zots to adhere them {you can find the files on older posts}. All cardstock is Re-collections and the pattern paper is DCWV. I also sprayed the title and the doilly with Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Mist and finished it off by rounding the corners with Creative Memories punch. Whatcha think?
