Mustaches, bow ties and sideburns oh my!

Warning: Long Post
What a true treasure.  These cups belonged to my maternal Grandmother, mi Mamá Nacha.  She passed when I was 8, she was beautiful, intelligent, hard working and a woman of God.  She had the most beautiful hazel eyes, but she was also a force to be reckon with. :)  When she fell ill, she gave the cups to my Mom.   They have been around since the early 70's; I remember them since we lived on Blanchard, they survived two moves and multitude of earthquakes.  They have no manufacturer markings, other "Japan" stamped on the bottom.  I do recall drinking from from them just a couple of times and my Mom will quickly wash them and store them in the back of the cupboard.  I'm glad she did.
Back in December, I was searching for mustache paper, stamps etc.  I came across a cup, similar to these, and just then it hit me.  I never knew why the cups had the faux sippy cup cover..... it's 'stache protector!! LOL!!!  OMGoodness it took me that long to figure out what it was!!  Seriously! LOL  I called my Mom to ask her about the mugs and if she was willing to sell them to me.  Yes, I was willing to pay good money for them, but she gave them to me!!!  Yes, they are all mine!!!

Now what's up with the "mostachón"?  Mostachón was a character with a oversized 'stache played by one of the Polivoces, a mexican comedy show from the 70's.  My sister, Letty, has "revived" the show for us and we've been watching episodes on YouTube, including their movies! Ha!  I now understand their jokes!  LOL   Mostachon is also a strawberry meringue dessert!  I just found out what it was today! HA! This year is full of "new" discoveries for me! LOL!!
Why did it take 4 months for me to scrap about my cups?  Because I got emotional every single time!  You see, I've become a cry baby in my old age!  Did I shed a tear while scrapping? Ah, yes and while typing up this post too! LOL

Who will inherit these cups from me?  I have don't have children of my own.  Maybe Dulce, Irene or AC. ??  I won't leave on a sad note, but instead with a little taunting....

To my sisters and brothers; Consuelo, Alfonso, Lucy, Letty, Robert......Bawhahaha!!!  These are all mine!!!
¡Ahí Madre!

Hola yo soy {LC Stamp of the Week}

Today is Stamp of the Week Friday with Latina Crafter.  We are featuring the "Hola yo soy" {Hello my name is} stamp.  I stamped the image on the reverse side of Amy Tangerine's wood veneer tag.  I used Memento ink but Staz On would have dried instantly. :)  The pattern papers are from Heartstrings March Kit Snap, I won in a blog hop.  The hymn music sheet is a freebie at Patter's blog.

Please stop by the LC blog and check out my DT sister's projects. :)
Happy Friday and thanks for stopping by!

Thought of you today

I shared this card over at the FBD blog today using their new digital image, April.  She has the cutest smile.  I sized her to fit into the Polaroid frame, she looks so cute! :)   The paper is Dear Lizzy, 5th & Frolic.  I created my faux flair by punching a 1" circle and adhering it to a 1" epoxy sticker.  I wasn't sure how this would turn out, but so far I've put two together and I love it!  I purchased the epoxy stickers at Michael's jewelry section, but I found a vendor on Etsy that sells them in bulk.  Yay!

There's still time to purchase the full sheet of rubbah stamps!  Sale ends 4/12!

Organizing!

I desperately need to organize my scrap room.  I started this weekend with my crafty book shelf.  I tackled my growing collection of 6x6 pads.  I kept these stacked on the shelf, but every time I got one out the scraps would fall off.  Ugh!  Went searching for some organization videos and found one that worked perfect for me.  You can watch it here.

On the video she used envelopes as pockets attached to the back of 6x6 pad.  I used Designs On Cloud 9's Library Pocket SVG cut file.
I used 8.5 x 11 paper, the back flap of the pocket is off the mat.  You will still have enough to make the pocket.  I circled the measurements to cut a pocket that fits a 6.5x6.5 pad.

This is the measurement for the 6x6 pad.

And here they are nicely organized in their baskets. I originally purchased plastic containers, but they were too wide. I got these baskets at Michael's.  I didn't have enough room for the DCWV Corrugated stack and a 6.5 x 6.5 pad.

Here's a photo of the bookshelf.  I got it at Target this Summer.

I originally hand wrote the names of the 12x12 stacks, but it looked messy.  I still have a few more stacks to re-label.  I need to make room for my rolling cart, it's still in the hallway.  It should be making it's way into the room tomorrow. ;)

My bookshelf holds half of my acrylic stamps.  I have more in binders across the room along with my wooden stamps.

I purchased this cubby today.  Compartment "E" {couldn't remove the assembly sticker} holds my embossing powders and heat gun.

I need a couple of more stacking bins to hold my Latina Crafter and Fresh Brewed Designs stamps.

I am so happy I found this method of storing 6x6 scraps!  Thanks for stopping by!

My Stronghold

Translation: Bible verse Psalm 18:2

It's my turn to share a project at the Latina Crafter blog.
This is a page Smashbook about Me.  I used several LC stamps, all listed and linked below.  I also used Heartstrings March Kit Snap, I won in a blog hop. Love it!
I created a faux flair button by punching a 1" circle and adhering a 1" clear epoxy sticker.  You can find them in the jewelry section of your big box craft store.

I stamped my journaling tag with the school ruled line stamp by LC.  I also stamped the musical heart note border on the dotty border.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.
