Save the Date for "Link Up For Pink"

Most of us know someone who has had to deal with this disease. My Mother-In-Law, Pat is currently fighting breast cancer.  I thought it would be a good idea to do our part to raise awareness by hosting the “Link Up For Pink”, linking party. It will be held on October 1st through the 14th on our blogs. Every project linked will be pink themed and there will be lots of opportunities for prizes. More details will be available as the day approaches.

Please help us spread the word by grabbing the code and displaying the button on your sidebar. So please save the date and remember to get your mammograms.

In Bloom Challenge

I'm submitting the following layout to Stephanie's In Bloom Challenge in the CSDivas group.
Challenge was to create a layout with handmade flowers.  The flowers and leaves are cuts from the Think Pink Slice card.  The paper is from Deja Views. I sprayed them with homemade glimmer mist and crumbled them up, added some bling for the centers.  The other paper is from DCWV.  The title was cut with SCAL and I used my Cri-Kit pens.  The pen wasn't dark enough so I traced it a fine tip Sharpie, I think it's time to buy the marker holder. :)

The young lady is my niece, Irene in Venice about 3 years ago, you can see the famous Rialto bridge behind her.  I will be giving this to her  so she'll do her own journaling, this is another attempt to get her to scrapbook. :)

Welcome to my blog and to "It's Earth Day, It's My Birthday" blog hop. It's dual celebration, as we toast to Gaby's birthday and Earth day.
If you arrived from It's Tori's Time, you're on track, if you wish to participate in the hop, please start in the beginning with Gaby.
Gaby requested we create any project with the color green, her fave, so here's a birthday card.
Cardbase is TPC all other K&Co.  I used Banners4All stamp set by Stamps of Life.  The "enjoy today" stamp is by Studio G.  Ribbon, twine and brads from my stash.  You can see some shimmer on the picture below.

Here's a little blog candy for you, just leave a comment and I will choose a winner on Tuesday, April 26th.

"I have a story to tell" Warning: Post is a wee bit long :)

I  have a story to tell...I was born to Socorro and Roberto, both immigrants from Michoacan, Mexico...I am child number 5.....my little brother is a year younger than me, he stole my thunder...I grew up in a drug and gang infested neighborhood in East Los Angeles....I have a story to tell....we grew up poor and my mom sewed some of my clothes out of remnants...my Mom was diagnosed with lupus when I was about 7 years old, I was young and I wish I could have done more to help her...I have a story to tell....I am now 42 and I had my share of mistakes, trials and tribulations, but with God by my side whom shall I fear?

Boy oh boy did I ever struggle with this challenge.  Above is just an excerpt of my hidden journaling.  I'm sure most of you have seen shirts with the saying "Scrap booking is cheaper than therapy"?  I don't know if that is true but I can tell you it IS therapy. :)

I'm entering this layout in Jessica's challenge over at CSDivas.  You can hop on over and check it out.
I was flipping through House Beautiful May '11 issue, searching for a color combo for a different challenge, when I came across this silohoutte overlay.  It's an ad for KraftMaid kitchen cabinetry.

And here's what I did with it:

The pink butterfly paper with "jolie" written on it is by SEI Chocolat, a gift for my birthday from Gaby. (gracias Gaby).  All other paper is from K & Company including the title block and flower die-cuts.  Flowers are from Prima and bling by Darice.  Part of the challenge was to include lyrics of your favorite song or one that inspires you, I printed excerpts of Who am I by Casting Crowns.  This is the first layout about me.  I hope you join the challenge and create a layout about you and Tell Your Story. :):)

PCW Challenge #1 - Easter Theme

Today I'm sharing my first project AND for the first challenge at  Paper Crafting World.

Each Monday there will be a new challenge reveal. One week will be a “Crafting-Die Cut” challenge and the next week will be a digi stamp challenge.
You will have almost two weeks to complete your challenge and enter your projects.  Please visit PCW for all the details and check what the other design members created.

Here's the cutting file I used and my project:

The Easter bunny is my niece Irene.  I used Creative Imaginations paper as the background.  The green flower paper is by Martha Stewart.  All other paper is from scraps.
Ribbon: American Crafts
Bling: Stickles and Hotfix stones
Button: is an extra button from a sweater, if I ever loose one I know where to find it. :)

I'm also submitting this layout to Paper Cutz Challenge #88, the challenge was to create using pink, green, blue, purple, and white ONLY!  Hard to see but on the ribbon there are a few purple chicks. :)

39 & Fabulous Blog Hop {Closed}

First things first, Happy Birthday Bonnie!!  Welcome to my blog and to Bonnie's My 39 & Glamorous Blog Hop. If you happen to pop in here then make sure you start with Bonnie.   If you arrived from Cooking with Cricut you're on the right track.
You have from today until Sunday to come back and finish the hop!

The zebra print paper is from Making Memories Reverie collection.  I used DCWV Black Currant to cut the Happy Birthday.  The title is a SVG file I shared last summer and can be found here.  Of course you can't see it on the picture but the zebra print and the pink paper have glitter.  I also sprayed pink homemade shimmer mist on the white label.  The bling are hotfix stones I purchased on eBay.

Please leave a comment for the chance to win the following stamp set.

Your next stop is Ellen! (my blog does not contain a clue)

Birthday Bear & Announcement

I have an exciting announcement, I made Melin's Design Team at PaperCrafting World.  Stay tuned as our first challenge will be April 18th.  Meanwhile you can still take advantage of her 50% off of your $20 purchase.

Here's a birthday card I made using one of the Paper Crafting World bear cut file.  She was designed holding a pie, but I replaced it with a cake.  The cake is from the stamp set Cake2Build from the Stamps of Life.  The bear was cut out of scraps and the polka dot paper is from Target's dollar spot.  I used Fiskars' Party Hats stamp set to create my own pattern paper.

Cherry Blossom Challenge

The SVG Cuts forum is having a challenge to create any project with their Cherry Blossom collection. Here's what I came up with:

The background paper and the branch is Marth Stewart.  The flower print scallop border and pink rub-on borders are by BasicGrey.  The butterfly is from Dollar Tree.  I finally got to use the loose felt powder I've had forever.  I ran the flowers through my Xyron and rubbed on the felt powder.  The bling is by Darice.
The challenge ends May 1st, there's still time to enter.

Toadilly Frogs! - Guest Designer

Karel starting a toadilly frog month...the theme of her challenge this month.  All you need to do is create a project that has something to do with frogs or toads.  Karel has more info here.
The pattern paper is K & Company all other from scraps.  The frog/toad is from Create-a-Critter cart.  The title is one I shared early last year and can be found here.  I used googled eyes I found at Dollar Tree.

This layout is not complete, as I don't have any journaling on my page.  I looked high and low for a circle journal tag and couldn't find one.  Do you know what that means?  I trip to the craft store!

The picture is my god-daughter Dulce, {she has some face paint on her cheek, not a bruise} the star of my blog....hmmm thinking I should rename my blog from JustYolie to JustDulce!

A little posh

A simple layout of my niece Irene in Paris.  She studied abroad and traveled throughout Europe in 2009.  I'm trying to get her to scrapbook, but I think maybe her mom will like it enough to start her European book.  I don't know the date the picture was taken so I will leave it to her to add some journaling. :)

I didn't need to add much to the layout;  the paper by Paper Pizzaz has beautiful flocking.  The black velvet flowers are by Heidi Swapp, I've had forever.  The glitter pink and purple paper is by Core'dinations.  The brads are by Teresa Collins and were part of my prize package I won at Linda's blog, The Paper Boutique.  Please visit her if you can, she shares great tips.

Lift, Floss, Scrap Challenge

I'm super excited to share my first challenge as a DT Diva at CSDivas!  If you want to particpate, please stop by CSDivas.  I will have a RAK for a randomly choosen layout.

My challenge to you is to scraplift, use floss or twine on your page and use some up of your scraps. You can use the layout by Laura Vegas, or any other sketch. But you must share the page you scraplift along with your page. Don't forget to use up your scraps.

Here's what I did: I scrapLIFTed a page created by Laura Vegas, from CK issue Sept. 2010 page 51. I thought this would be a great layout to use some scraps. I also used FLOSS around SCRAPs of paper.

This is my page: Background paper is DCWV all other from scraps. The floss is by Darice; brads from my stash. The scallop borders were SVG files cut with SCAL on my Cricut. This is Dulce holding up a picture of her big brother AC.  Dulce dances folklorico and was fortunate to be invited to dance at the Mezcla fall show at Brown University.  AC was unable to make the trip, so I printed a 8x10 pic of him, glued it on cardstock and we got to pose with him at Plymouth, Fenway and of course Brown.  LOL

This is the page by Laura Vegas, from CK issue Sept. 2010 page 51

Easter Card

The background paper is from one of the first paper packs I purchased from Creative Memories.   I'm happy to say that all other paper is from scraps.  The bunny is from Paper Crafting World.  I used my Cricut with Sure Cuts A Lot to cut this cutie; she's meant to hold a heart shape flowers but I flipped one of her arms so that she can cuddle a baby chick.  The banner is from a the Banners4All stamp set by The Stamps of Life.  The grass was cut using Zooballoo and the pinwheels, ladybugs, sun and the chick are all stickers by Creative Memories...super surprised they still sticked!

I'm also submitting this card to CPS Challenge #212
