DIY Laundry Sign #CricutEveryWhere

Today is the last day to enter the Vintage Revivals inspired contest, sponsored by #CricutEveryWhere, actually it ends in a few hours.  You can find the details and rules here.

I was inspired by Vintage Revivals' DIY Light up Sign to create my own sign with a Cricut design, a 12"x12" shadow box and a light kit.

I did a quick search in Design Space using the keyword"laundry" and found the clothesline.  I used Cricut fonts for the wording and cut it on DCWV paper.  I then adhered vellum paper to the backside with Scor-Tape. In Mandi's tutorial, she sprayed the glass with frost paint. I found it easier and faster to use vellum.

I purchased a couple of light kits by Heide Swapp for special projects and this was one of them.  The light kit is battery operated on two triple A batteries.  I taped the lights to shadow box frame and with a Kraft knife, I notched a square on the backside so I can easily turn it on and off.

#CricutExplore 3D Bow

I didn't realize Cricut offers a weekly free file. This week it's a 3D Bow 2 Layer bow with scallops. Way cute. Couldn't come at a better time. I used it to fancy up a gold foil DCWV storage box and it's exactly what it needed!

I almost purchased a 2-Layer bow die last year, but it was a bit pricey.  Now I have a free one to resize as needed! I'm glad I didn't get the die, don't get me wrong, I still love metal dies.

I used Scor-Tape to put the bow together and cut 1" strips of gold foil straps to adhere the finished bow.  Here's a close up of my fancy bow:

Inside of the box, I used gold tissue and a extra large gold doily, both purchased during Christmas sales.  I hope the recipient enjoys the gift.

#DCWV Cricut Hello

I'm on a "No Spend" freeze on crafty supplies.  That's where most of my money goes to and by my money, I mean my husband's money.  I tried it before and I  was successful, I walked around with white knuckles for the month, but I did it.  Today I complete my first week and so far so good.

I have been spending my time redecorating downstairs and hopefully heading upstairs to my craftroom soon.   I have also been getting acquainted with my Cricut Explore Air.  Loving this machine more and more.

Using the free basic shapes from Design Space, I was able to weld the "hello" to the ring.  The "hello" cut is gorgeous! The Explore cut the DCWV Foil like butter.  

The pattern paper is from DCWV Linen Closet Stack and the gold foil from their 6"x6" Foil Cardstock Stack.  Below is a close up of the Hello cut.  Love love!

#PinkandMain My Sunshine

Sunshine is fun, but I'm wishing for April Showers.   Today I'm sharing a card using Pink and Main Puddles stamps.  I stamped the girl image on Echo Park's Simple Life paper and paper pieced the rain coat and umbrella. 

I used my Cricut Explore to cut the clouds and sun. I forgot to cut the center of the sun, so I added a button instead.  It works.
